At length when the messengers arrived among the adherents of Lut, 61 he said to them: 'I do not know you' 62 "We have come to you with news," they said, "of what your people doubt; 63 And we have come to you with the truth, and we are most surely truthful. 64 Therefore go forth with your followers in a part of the night and yourself follow their rear, and let not any one of you turn round, and go forth whither you are commanded. 65 And We decreed unto him this commandment because the last of those was to be cut off in the early morning. 66 And the people of the city came [unto Lot,] rejoicing at the glad tiding. 67 [Lout (Lot)] said: "Verily! these are my guests, so shame me not. 68 And fear Allah, and humiliate me not. 69 They said; Have we not forbidden you from (entertaining) anyone? 70 He said, “These women of our tribe are my daughters, if you have to.” 71 By your life, they wandered blindly in their dazzlement. 72 Then the mighty Blast caught them at sunrise, 73 and We turned it uppermost nethermost and rained on it stones of baked clay. 74 Surely! In this are signs, for those who see (or understand or learn the lessons from the Signs of Allah). 75 for, behold, those [towns] stood by a road that still exists. 76 Indeed in this are signs for the believers. 77 And the companions of the thicket were [also] wrongdoers. 78 On them, too, We took vengeance, and they are both on a clear roadway. 79
