The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ What do they question each other about! 1 Is it about the awesome tiding 2 concerning which they have disputes. 3 But they will soon come to know. 4 Nay, again, they will come to know! 5 Have We not made the earth as a cradle 6 And the mountains as pegs? 7 And We have created you in pairs. 8 and We made your sleep a rest, 9 And made the night as clothing 10 And We have made the day for seeking livelihood. 11 And We built above you seven strong ones, 12 And We made a shining lamp, 13 and sent down heavy rains from the clouds 14 Thereby to produce grain and plant, 15 And gardens of thick growth. 16 Surely the Day of Judgement has an appointed time; 17 the day the Trumpet is blown, and you shall come in troops, 18 and the heaven shall be opened, and become gates, 19 and the mountains shall be made to vanish, as if they had been a mirage. 20 Indeed, Hell has been lying in wait 21 a home for the transgressors, 22 where they shall remain for ages, 23 They shall not taste therein cool nor drink 24 save boiling water and a stinking fluid -- 25 A fitting recompense (for them). 26 Verily they were wont not to look for a reckoning. 27 And they belied Our revelations with strong belying. 28 but We have recorded everything in a Book. 29 [So We shall say], "Taste, then, [the fruit of your evil doings,] for now We shall bestow on you nothing but more and more suffering!" 30
