The Stars (Al-Najm)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By the star when it sets: 1 Your companion does not err, nor does he go astray; 2 nor speaks he out of caprice. 3 Indeed it is not except a Revelation which is revealed, 4 Which one of mighty powers hath taught him, 5 One strong of make. Then he stood straight. 6 And he was on the horizon of the highest heaven. 7 and then drew near, and came close, 8 until he was two bow-lengths away or even closer 9 So did (Allah) convey the Inspiration to His slave [Muhammad SAW through Jibrael (Gabriel)]. 10 His (Muhammad's) heart did not lie to him about what his eyes had seen. 11 will you, then, contend with him as to what he saw? 12 For indeed he saw him at a second descent, 13 Near the lote-tree of the last boundary. 14 Nigh thereto is the Garden of Abode. 15 When the Lote-tree was covered over with what it was covered over; 16 Neither did sight falter nor exceed the bounds. 17 Indeed, he saw one of the greatest signs of his Lord. 18 Have you really considered al-Lat and al-"Uzza, 19 And subsequently the third, the Manat? 20 Are there sons for you, and daughters for Him? 21 That were indeed an unjust division. 22 these are nothing but names which you yourselves have devised, you and your forefathers. God has sent down no authority for them. They follow nothing but conjecture and what their own selves desire, even though guidance has already come to them from their Lord! 23 Or is there for man whatever he wishes? 24 To Allah belong both the Next World and the present. 25
