In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
By the winds (or angels or the Messengers of Allah) sent forth one after another. 1 By the raging hurricanes, 2 Consider these [messages] that spread [the truth] far and wide, 3 And by the Verses (of the Quran) that separate the right from the wrong. 4 and those hurling a reminder 5 [promising] freedom from blame or [offering] a warning! 6 Verily that which ye are promised is about to befall. 7 When the stars lose their light, 8 and the sky is rent asunder, 9 and when the mountains crumble into dust 10 and when the Messengers' time is set, 11 For which day were they appointed? 12 Upon the Day of Decision! 13 And what can make you know what is the Day of Judgement? 14 Woe on that day unto the beliers 15 Have We not destroyed the earlier generations? 16 And We shall cause those of later times to follow them. 17 Thus do We deal with the criminals. 18 Woe on that day to the rejecters. 19 Did We not create you from a liquid disdained? 20 that We laid within a sure lodging 21 for an appointed term? 22 Thus have We determined [the nature of man's creation]: and excellent indeed is Our power to determine [what is to be]! 23 Woe on that Day to those who reject the truth! 24 Have We not made the earth a receptacle. 25 The living and the dead, 26 And have placed therein firm, and tall mountains; and have given you to drink sweet water? 27 Woe that Day to the deniers (of the Day of Resurrection)! 28 (It will be said to the disbelievers): "Depart you to that which you used to deny! 29 And those that revive by quickening, 30 unshading against the blazing flame 31 Lo! it throweth up sparks like the castles, 32 as black camels. 33 Woe that day unto those who cry it lies! 34 That will be a Day when they shall not be able to speak. 35 And they will not be permitted to put forth any excuse. 36 Ruin is for the deniers on that day! 37 That will be a Day of Sorting out! We shall gather you together and those before (you)! 38 So if you have a plan, plan against Me (now). 39 The Day of Judgement. 40
