Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Has not there come to you the news of the overwhelming calamity? 1 On that day the faces of some people will be humbly cast down, 2 toiling [under burdens of sin,] worn out [by fear,] 3 they shall enter a burning Fire 4 and will be made to drink from a fiercely boiling spring. 5 they shall have no food but thorns, 6 Which doth not nourish nor release from hunger. 7 Some faces on that Day will be radiant, 8 Well-pleased because of their striving, 9 in a sublime Garden, 10 In which they will not hear any lewd speech. 11 Wherein is a gushing spring, 12 Therein will be Thrones (of dignity), raised on high, 13 And goblets ready placed! 14 And cushions set in rows, 15 and rich carpets levelled out. 16 Do (these unbelievers) not observe the camels: how they were created? 17 And the sky: how it was raised high? 18 how the mountains were hoisted, 19 And at the earth, how it is spread out? 20 (Muhammad), preach; you are only a preacher. 21 thou art not charged to oversee them. 22 But whoever turns back and denies the truth, 23 Then Allah will punish him with the greatest punishment. 24 Surely to Us is their return; 25 Then, surely, it is for Us to call them to account. 26
