The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
The hour drew nigh and the moon did rend asunder. 1 And if they behold a sign, they turn away and say: magic continuous 2 They reject (the warning) and follow their (own) lusts but every matter has its appointed time. 3 Messages deterring them from evil had come to them, 4 which are full of wisdom; but the warnings do not help. 5 So turn thou away from them. Upon the day when the Caller shall call unto a horrible thing, 6 Their eyes humbled, they will emerge from the graves as if they were locusts spreading, 7 running in confusion towards the Summoning Voice; [and] those who [now] deny the truth will exclaim, "Calamitous is this Day!" 8 ۞ Before them the People of Noah rejected (their messenger): they rejected Our servant, and said, "Here is one possessed!", and he was driven out. 9 Thereupon he called out to his Sustainer, "Verily, I am defeated; come Thou, then, to my succour!" 10 And We opened up the flood gates of the sky with water pouring down in torrents, 11 and We caused the earth to burst with gushing springs: so that the waters met for a purpose which had been decreed. 12 We bore him on an [ark] which, made of planks and nails, 13 Floating under Our Eyes, a reward for him who had been rejected! 14 We have left it as a sign. Is there any that will remember? 15 Then see how (dreadful) was My punishment after My warnings! 16 And in truth We have made the Qur'an easy to remember; but is there any that remembereth? 17 The people of 'Ad too rejected the truth. How terrible was My punishment and My warning. 18 We sent a tumultuous wind against them on a day of unremitting misfortune, 19 Plucking out men as if they were roots of palm-trees torn up (from the ground). 20 So how dreadful have been My torment and My warning. 21 We have made the Koran easy to remember, is there any that will remember? 22
