He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 because the blind man approached him! 2 Yet for all thou didst know, [O Muhammad,] he might perhaps have grown in purity, 3 (He might) remember, and the Reminder might profit him. 4 Now he who waxes indifferent, 5 So you are after him! 6 And no blame is on you if he would not purify himself 7 And to him who came to you eagerly 8 and fearfully, 9 Of him you are neglectful and divert your attention to another, 10 NAY, VERILY, these [messages] are but a reminder: 11 So whoever wills may remember it. 12 It is set down on honoured pages, 13 exalted, purified, 14 by the hands of scribes 15 noble and pious. 16 Accursed be man! How stubbornly he denies the Truth. 17 From what substance did He create him? 18 Of a small seed; He created him, then He made him according to a measure, 19 Then He eased the way for him; 20 Then He causes his death and provides a grave for him. 21 then, He will raise him when He wills. 22 No indeed! Man has not accomplished His bidding. 23 Then let man look to his food, 24 That We pour down the water, pouring (it) down in abundance, 25 Then split the earth in clefts 26 Thereby produced grain in it. 27 and grape vines and vegetables, 28 Olives and dates, 29 the densely tree'd gardens, 30 and fruit and pastures, 31 In order to benefit you and your cattle. 32 And when the Blast shall sound, 33 Man will fly from his brother, 34 And from his mother and his father, 35 And from his wife and his children. 36 every man that day shall have business to suffice him. 37 Some faces will on that Day be bright with happiness, 38 laughing, rejoicing at glad tidings. 39 And many a face will be covered with dust on that day. 40 Darkness shall cover them. 41 Those! they are the infidels, the ungodly. 42
