The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
By the heavens and al-tariq. 1 Do you know what al-tariq is? 2 It is the shining star -- 3 No human soul but hath a guardian over it. 4 So let man consider of what he was created; 5 He is created from a drop emitted- 6 Proceeding from between the backbone and the ribs: 7 Indeed Allah is Able to return him. 8 on the Day when all secrets will be laid bare, 9 he will have no power, nor anyone to help him. 10 By oath of the sky from which comes down the rain. 11 And by oath of the earth which flourishes with it. 12 the Quran is the final word, 13 it is not a jest. 14 Indeed the disbelievers carry out their evil schemes. 15 And I am plotting a plot. 16 So allow time for the disbelievers. Leave them awhile. 17
True are the words of Allah the Almighty.
