Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Certainly the news of the calamity that will overwhelm has come to you! 1 Many a face will be disgraced on that day. 2 troubled and tired as a result of their deeds in the past. 3 The while they enter the Blazing Fire,- 4 their drink shall be from a boiling spring. 5 no food for them but cactus thorn 6 which neither sustains, nor satisfy hunger. 7 In that day other faces will be calm, 8 well-pleased with [the fruit of] their striving, 9 In a high Garden. 10 They shall hear therein no vain discourse; 11 Therein will be a flowing spring, 12 [and] there will be thrones [of happiness] raised high, 13 Goblets set, 14 and cushions arrayed in rows, 15 And carpets spread around. 16 Look they not at the camels, how they are created? 17 And the heaven – how it has been raised? 18 And the mountains – how they have been established? 19 And the earth, how it is spread? 20 Therefore do remind, for you are only a reminder. 21 You are not charged to oversee them. 22 However, those who turn away and disbelieve, 23 Allah will punish him with direst punishment. 24 Lo! unto Us is their return 25 Then surely upon Us is the taking of their account. 26
