The Night (Al-Layl)
21 verses, revealed in Mecca after The All High (Al-A'alaa) before Dawn (Al-Fajr)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By the night when it covers the day, 1 And the day when it shines in brightness, 2 Consider the creation of the male and the female! 3 O men, you truly strive towards the most diverse ends! 4 As for he who gives and fears Allah 5 for those who spend for the cause of God, 6 We will make smooth for him the path of ease (goodness). 7 But as for one who is miserly and unheeding, 8 and he belied the finest 9 We shall facilitate for him the way to Hardship, 10 And his wealth will not avail him when he perishes. 11 It is indeed for Us to show the way, 12 and to Us belongs the Hereafter as well as the present world -- 13 Now I have warned you of a Fire that flames, 14 none shall enter it but the most wicked, 15 Who give the lie to Truth and turn their backs. 16 And Al-Muttaqun (the pious and righteous - see V. 2:2) will be far removed from it (Hell). 17 even he who gives his wealth. to purify himself 18 They do not expect any reward 19 But only seeking the Countenance of his Lord the Most High. 20 And indeed, soon he will be very pleased. 21
True are the words of God the Almighty.
