Said [Moses]: "O my Sustainer! Open up my heart [to Thy light,] 25 and make my task easy for me, 26 And untie the knot from my tongue 27 (That) they may understand my word; 28 "And give me a Minister from my family, 29 Aaron, my brother. 30 by him confirm my strength, 31 and let him share my task, 32 so that [together] we might abundantly extol Thy limitless glory 33 And remember Thee oft. 34 You are surely seeing us' 35 He replied: 'Moses, your request is granted. 36 And We had already conferred favor upon you another time, 37 When We inspired unto thy mother that which We inspired, 38 "'Throw (the child) into the chest, and throw (the chest) into the river: the river will cast him up on the bank, and he will be taken up by one who is an enemy to Me and an enemy to him': But I cast (the garment of) love over thee from Me: and (this) in order that thou mayest be reared under Mine eye. 39 When thy sister went and said: Shall I show you one who will nurse him? and we restored thee to thy mother that her eyes might be refreshed and might not sorrow. And thou didst kill a man and We delivered thee from great distress, and tried thee with a heavy trial. And thou didst tarry years among the folk of Midian. Then camest thou (hither) by (My) providence, O Moses, 40 I have chosen you for Myself. 41 Go, you and your brother, with My signs and do not slacken in My remembrance. 42 Then go to the Pharaoh as he has become exceedingly rebellious. 43 yet speak gently to him, that haply he may be mindful, or perchance fear.' 44 They said, "Lord, we are afraid of his transgression and rebellion against us". 45 God said, "Do not fear; I am with you both. I hear and I see. 46 "So go you both to him, and say: 'Verily, we are Messengers of your Lord, so let the Children of Israel go with us, and torment them not; indeed, we have come with a sign from your Lord! And peace will be upon him who follows the guidance! 47 Lo! it hath been revealed unto us that the doom will be for him who denieth and turneth away. 48 Said Firaun, “So who is the Lord of you both, O Moosa?” 49 He replied: "Our Sustainer is He who gives unto every thing [that exists] its true nature and form, and thereupon guides it [towards its fulfilment]. 50 He said: then what happened to the former generations? 51 He said: The knowledge thereof is with my Lord in a Record. My Lord neither erreth nor forgetteth, 52 It is God who has made the earth as a cradle for you with roads for you to travel. He has sent water from the sky to produce various pairs of plants. 53 So eat yourself and pasture your cattle. Surely there are many Signs in this for people of understanding. 54
