The Human (Al-Insan)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Indeed there has been a time for man, when even his name did not exist anywhere. 1 Verily We created man from a sperm yoked (to the ovum) to bring out his real substance, then gave him hearing and sight. 2 Surely We showed him the Right Path, regardless of whether he chooses to be thankful or unthankful (to his Lord). 3 Surely We have prepared for the unbelievers chains, fetters, and a Blaze. 4 Verily the pious shall drink of a cup whereof the admixture is like unto camphor. 5 A spring of which the [righteous] servants of Allah will drink; they will make it gush forth in force [and abundance]. 6 [The truly virtuous are] they [who] fulfil their vows, and stand in awe of a Day the woe of which is bound to spread far and wide, 7 those who, for the love of Him, feed the needy, and the orphan, and the captive, 8 'We feed you only for the Face of God; we desire no recompense from you, no thankfulness; 9 for we fear from our Lord a stern, frownful Day' 10 So Allah will protect them from the evil of that Day and give them radiance and happiness 11 and recompense them for their patience with a Garden, and robes of silk. 12 Reclining there upon couches, they shall see neither the sun nor the moon. 13 The shades of the garden will be closely spread over them and it will be easy for them to reach the fruits. 14 Passed round will be silver flagons and goblets made of glass, 15 Clear glasses [made] from silver of which they have determined the measure. 16 Therein they shall be served a cup flavoured with ginger, 17 From a spring by the name of Ever-flowing-Salsabil. 18 ۞ And there shall go round unto them youths ever-young. When thou seest them thou wouldst deem them pearls unstrung. 19 Whitherto you look around, you will see an abundance of bliss and the glories of a great kingdom. 20 Upon them will be green Garments of fine silk and heavy brocade, and they will be adorned with Bracelets of silver; and their Lord will give to them to drink of a Wine Pure and Holy. 21 (And it will be said unto them): Lo! this is a reward for you. Your endeavour (upon earth) hath found acceptance. 22
