He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ HE FROWNED and turned away 1 when the blind came to him. 2 What could inform thee but that he might grow (in grace) 3 Or that he may accept advice, so the advice may benefit him. 4 Now as for him who believes himself to be self-sufficient 5 To him you give attention. 6 though you are not to blame if he would not cleanse himself. 7 As for the one who comes to you earnestly (striving for guidance). 8 and who has fear of God, 9 From him you are distracted. 10 No indeed; this is only a Reminder. 11 So let him who pleases mind it. 12 In honored books, 13 Exalted, purified, 14 By the hands of scribes. 15 Honourable and Virtuous. 16 May (the disbelieving) human being be condemned! What makes him disbelieve? 17 From what did He create him? 18 Of a sperm-drop He created him, and determined him, 19 Then He makes the Path easy for him; 20 Then gave him death, so had him put in the grave. 21 Then when He listeth, He shall raise him to life. 22 Certainly, he has not duly fulfilled His commands. 23 Let the human being think about (how We produce) his food. 24 We poured out the rains abundantly, 25 then We split the earth in fissures 26 how We made the grain to grow, 27 And grapes and green fodder 28 olives, dates, 29 and gardens dense with foliage, 30 And fruits and herbage 31 all this as a provision for you and your cattle. 32 And when the Blast shall sound, 33 on that Day each person will flee from his brother, 34 And from his mother and father, 35 his wife and his sons: 36 Each man will have enough cares that day. 37 Faces on that Day shall be beaming, 38 Laughing, rejoicing at good news (of Paradise). 39 And some faces will on that Day with dust be covered, 40 with darkness overspread: 41 These will be the unbelievers, the wicked. 42
