Al-Takweer
The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
29 verses, revealed in Mecca after Thorns (Al-Masad) before The All High (Al-A'alaa)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
When the sun shall be folded up, 1 And when the stars darken, 2 the mountains are scattered about as dust, 3 When the she-camels, ten months with young, are left untended; 4 And when the wild beasts shall be gathered together, 5 And when the seas shall become as blazing Fire or shall overflow; 6 And when the souls are paired 7 and when the girl-child that was buried alive is made to ask 8 for what offence was she killed? 9 And when the Writs shall be lain open, 10 And when the sky is stripped away 11 When Hell is set ablaze, 12 and when paradise is brought into view: 13 A soul will [then] know what it has brought [with it]. 14 BUT NAY! I call to witness the revolving stars, 15 That run their course (and) hide themselves, 16 and the night as it darkly falls, 17 And the Dawn as it breathes away the darkness;- 18 Most surely it is the Word of an honored messenger, 19 [Who is] possessed of power and with the Owner of the Throne, secure [in position], 20 [the word] of one to be heeded, and worthy of trust! 21 Your companion is not possessed; 22 And indeed he (Muhammad (Peace be upon him)) saw him [Jibrael (Gabriel)] in the clear horizon (towards the east). 23 He is not avid of the Unseen. 24 Nor is it the word of an evil spirit accursed. 25 Whither then go ye? 26 This is a reminder for all the peoples of the world, 27 for everyone of you who wishes to follow the Straight Way; 28 And ye shall not will unless it be that Allah, the Lord of the worlds, willeth. 29
