20 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Pen (Al-Qalam) before The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
O you who are wrapped up in your mantle, 1 Keep awake [in prayer] at night, all but a small part 2 For half the night, or reduce some from it. 3 Or add to it, and recite the Quran as it ought to be recited. 4 We are about to reveal to you a mighty word. 5 Truly the rising by night is most potent for governing (the soul), and most suitable for (framing) the Word (of Prayer and Praise). 6 You have by day prolonged occupations. 7 Remember the Name of your Lord and dedicate yourself devoutly to Him. 8 The Sustainer of the east and the west [is He]: there is no deity save Him: hence, ascribe to Him alone the power to determine thy fate, 9 And bear patiently what they say and avoid them with a becoming avoidance. 10 And leave Me (alone to deal with) those in possession of the good things of life, who (yet) deny the Truth; and bear with them for a little while. 11 for with Us there are fetters, and a furnace, 12 and food that chokes, and a painful chastisement, 13 upon the day when the earth and the mountains shall quake and the mountains become a slipping heap of sand. 14 BEHOLD, [O men,] We have sent unto you an apostle who shall bear witness to the truth before you, even as We sent an apostle unto Pharaoh: 15 But Pharaoh rebelled against the messenger, whereupon We seized him with no gentle grip. 16 If you persist in disbelieving, how will you guard yourself against the (woe of the) Day that will turn children grey-haired, 17 The Day when the heavens will be rent asunder and God's promise shall be fulfilled. 18 This, surely, is an admonition. So let him who will, take the right path to his Lord. 19

How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
