The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
(On the day) when the sun is made to cease shining, 1 when the stars shall scatter away, 2 when the mountains shall be set in motion, 3 And when full-term she-camels are neglected 4 And when the wild beasts shall be gathered together; 5 when the seas shall be set boiling, 6 when the souls are coupled (to their body), 7 questions are asked about the baby girls buried alive, 8 For what sin she was slain, 9 And when the Writs shall be lain open, 10 the heavens are unveiled, 11 And when the hell is kindled up, 12 and when paradise is brought into view: 13 [then] each soul shall know what it has put forward. 14 I do not need to swear by the orbiting 15 stars which are visible during the night 16 And by oath of the night when it turns back. 17 And by the dawn as it brightens; 18 This is indeed the recitation of an honoured Noble Messenger. (Angel Jibreel – peace and blessings be upon him.) 19 [Who is] possessed of power and with the Owner of the Throne, secure [in position], 20 Obeyed and worthy there of trust. 21 And your companion is not [at all] mad. 22 he truly beheld [the angel - beheld] him on the clear horizon; 23 Neither doth he withhold grudgingly a knowledge of the Unseen. 24 And it is not the word of an accursed Satan; 25 So where are you going? 26 It is nothing but Good Counsel for everyone in the world, 27 For the one among you who wishes to become upright. 28 And what will you wish, except if Allah wills – the Lord of the Creation. 29
