The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the sky is rent asunder, 1 in obedience to the commands of their Lord which are incumbent on them, 2 and when the earth is stretched out 3 and casts out all that is within and voids itself, 4 obeying its Sustainer, as in truth it must: 5 O man, you are striving unto your Lord and you will meet Him. 6 Then, he who is given his Book in his right hand 7 shall have an easy reckoning 8 and shall return to his people joyfully. 9 But whosoever is given his Record behind his back, 10 Soon will he cry for perdition, 11 And will go into the blazing fire. 12 He used to live joyfully among his people, 13 and had thought that they would never be brought back to life again. 14 Yea! surely his Lord does ever see him. 15 So I swear by the afterglow of sunset; 16 And [by] the night and what it envelops 17 and the moon, as it grows to its fullness: 18 [That] you will surely experience state after state. 19 So what is [the matter] with them [that] they do not believe, 20 and when the Koran is recited to them that they do not prostrate! ۩ 21 But on the contrary the Unbelievers reject (it). 22 And Allah knows best what they gather (of good and bad deeds), 23 (Muhammad), tell them that they will all suffer a painful torment 24 Except those who believe and do good; for them is a reward that shall never be cut off. 25
