The Prophets (Al-Anbyaa')
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ The time of reckoning has drawn near for mankind, yet they are heedless and turn away. 1 Whenever any fresh admonition comes to them from their Lord they barely heed it and remain immersed in play, 2 their hearts are distracted and forgetful. The wrongdoers confer together secretly, saying, "Is not this man a mortal like you? Will you succumb to magic with your eyes open?" 3 He said: "My Lord knows well all that is spoken in the heavens and the earth. He is All-Hearing, All- Knowing." 4 "Nay," they say: "[Muhammad propounds] the most involved and confusing of dreams!" "Nay, but he has invented [all] this!" - "Nay, but he is [only] a poet!" - [and,] "Let him, then, come unto us with a miracle, just as those [prophets] of old were sent [with miracles]?" 5 Before them, not one of the communities which We destroyed believed either. Will these believe? 6 The messengers We sent before you were but men whom We had sent revelations. Ask the People of the Book if you do not know this -- 7 And We did not create them without bodies so they would not eat food – nor that they abide on earth forever. 8 Then We made Our promise good to them and delivered whomsoever We pleased, and destroyed the transgressors. 9 We have bestowed upon you a Book that mentions you. Do you not understand? 10
