Samood gave the lie to the apostles 141 When their brother Salih said to them, "Will you not fear Allah? 142 I am for you a faithful Messenger, 143 be, then, conscious of God, and pay heed unto me! 144 I ask of you no reward. My reward is with none but the Lord of the Universe. 145 (Do you think) you will be left secure here 146 In gardens and springs. 147 And green crops (fields etc.) and date-palms with soft spadix. 148 "And you carve houses out of mountains with great skill. 149 "Be, then, conscious of God, and pay heed unto me, 150 Do not obey the orders of the transgressors 151 “Those who spread turmoil in the earth, and do no reform.” 152 They replied: "You are nothing but one of those who are bewitched; 153 "You are but a human being like us. Then bring us a sign if you are of the truthful." 154 He said: (Behold) this she-camel. She hath the right to drink (at the well), and ye have the right to drink, (each) on an appointed day. 155 And do not touch her with harm, lest you be seized by the punishment of a terrible day." 156 Then they hamstrung her; and then they became regretful. 157 But the Penalty seized them. Verily in this is a Sign: but most of them do not believe. 158 Yet verily your Lord is mighty and merciful. 159
