The people of Aykah also gave the lie to the Messengers. 176 when their brother Shu'ayb said unto them: "Will you not be conscious of God? 177 Behold, I am an apostle [sent by Him] to you, [and therefore] worthy of your trust: 178 “Therefore fear Allah and obey me.” 179 I ask of you no wage for this; my wage is only with the Lord of the Worlds. 180 ۞ Fill up the measure, do not be among the cheats, 181 "And weigh with the true and straight balance. 182 “And do not give the people their goods diminished, and do not roam the earth causing turmoil.” 183 and have fear of Him Who created you and the earlier generations." 184 They said, "You are no more than a bewitched and insane man 185 "Thou art no more than a mortal like us, and indeed we think thou art a liar! 186 Therefore cause a portion of the heaven to come down upon us, if you are one of the truthful. 187 (Shu'aib) said: "My Lord knows well what you are doing." 188 But they belied him, so the torment of the day of shadow (a gloomy cloud) seized them, indeed that was the torment of a Great Day. 189 In this [story,] behold, there is a message [unto men,] even though most of them will not believe [in it]. 190 Yet verily your Lord is mighty and merciful. 191
