The Mountain (Al-Toor)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By the mount 1 And by the Book Inscribed. 2 In parchment unrolled. 3 The house ever-peopled, 4 And [by] the heaven raised high 5 and by the swelling sea: 6 the punishment of your Lord shall certainly come to pass, 7 there is none who could avert it. 8 Upon the day when heaven spins dizzily 9 and the mountains shudder and shake. 10 So woe on that day to those who reject (the truth), 11 all those who [throughout their lives] but idly played with things vain 12 On that day they will be violently pushed into the fire 13 (it will be said to them): 'This is the Fire which you belied! 14 “So is this magic, or are you unable to see?” 15 Endure the heat thereof, and whether ye are patient of it or impatient of it is all one for you. Ye are only being paid for what ye used to do. 16 Lo! those who kept their duty dwell in gardens and delight, 17 rejoicing in whatever their Lord has given them. Their Lord has saved them from the torment of the Fire, 18 "Eat and drink with relish," (they will be told), (as recompense) for what you had done." 19 They will recline on couches arranged in rows and We shall couple them with maidens with large, lovely eyes. 20 And those who accepted faith, and whose descendants followed them with faith – We have joined their descendants with them, and have not reduced anything for them from their deeds; every soul is trapped in its own deeds. 21 And We will provide them with fruit and meat from whatever they desire. 22 They will exchange with one another a cup [of wine] wherein [results] no ill speech or commission of sin. 23 ۞ and youths, of their own, shall pass among them as if they were hidden pearls. 24 And some of them draw near to others, questioning. 25 They will say: verily we were aforetime, midst our household, ever in dread. 26 "But Allah has been gracious to us, and has saved us from the torment of the Fire. 27 we were before ever calling upon Him; surely He is the All-benign, the All-compassionate.' 28
