Didst thou (O Muhammad) observe him who turned away, 33 And gave a little, then was grudging? 34 Has he the knowledge of the unseen so that he can see? 35 Or has he not been informed of what was in the scriptures of Moses 36 And of Ibrahim who faithfully fulfilled? 37 that no bearer of burdens shall be made to bear another's burden; 38 And that man can have nothing but what he does (good or bad). 39 and that his labouring shall surely be seen, 40 Thereafter he shall be recompensed therefor with the fullest recompense. 41 And that the end is only towards your Lord? 42 And that it is He (Allah) Who makes (whom He wills) laugh, and makes (whom He wills) weep; 43 And that it is He who causes death and gives life 44 and that He Himself created the two sexes: male and female, 45 of a sperm-drop, when it was cast forth, 46 And that upon Him (Allah) is another bringing forth (Resurrection); 47 And that it is He who enriches and suffices 48 and that it is He who is the Lord of Sirius, 49 that it was He that destroyed ancient Aad 50 and Thamud, leaving no trace of them, 51 and that He it is Who destroyed the people of Noah before for they were much given to iniquity and transgression. 52 and He overthrew the subverted cities [of Sodom and Gomorrah] 53 and then covered them from sight forever. 54 So O listener! Which favour of your Lord will you doubt? 55 This is a warning just like those of former times. 56 The threatened Hour is nigh. 57 No one besides God can rescue a soul from hardship. 58 Do you marvel then at this discourse (the Koran)? 59 And you laugh, and do not weep! 60 And ye are behaving proudly. 61 So bow yourselves before God, and serve Him! ۩ 62
