The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ When the Event (i.e. the Day of Resurrection) befalls. 1 (and none denies its descending) 2 (a calamitous Event) that shall turn things upside down: 3 when the earth will suddenly shake with a terrible shaking, 4 and the mountains fragmented 5 Turned to dust, floating in the air, 6 and you shall be three bands -- 7 The people of the right hand - those whose books of records will be placed in their right hands. How happy they will be! 8 Companions of the Left, what are the Companions of the Left? 9 And those Foremost (in Faith) will be Foremost (in the Hereafter). 10 These are they who are drawn nigh (to Allah), 11 in the beautiful Paradise. 12 A number of the earlier peoples, 13 And a few from the latter. 14 On thrones woven [with ornament], 15 reclining upon them, facing one another [in love]. 16 Surrounded by immortal boys. 17 with goblets and ewers and a cup filled with a drink drawn from a running spring, 18 They shall not be affected with headache thereby, nor shall they get exhausted, 19 And with fruits, any that they may select: 20 And the flesh of fowls, any that they may desire. 21 And gorgeous eyed fair maidens. 22 beautiful as pearls hidden in their shells. 23 shall be their recompense for their deeds. 24 There they shall hear no idle talk, no cause of sin, 25 Only a saying: "Peace, peace." 26 And the fellows on the right hand; how be happy shall the fellows on the right hand be! 27 They will live amid the thornless lot trees 28 Among Talh (banana-trees) with fruits piled one above another, 29 Lengthened shadows, 30 near to flowing water 31 And fruits numberless, 32 Whose season is not limited, nor (supply) forbidden, 33 And raised couches. 34 Surely We have made them to grow into a (new) growth, 35 and made them virgins, 36 Loving companions matched in age, 37 For those on the Right Hand. 38
