Unknown Person (Al-Muzzammil)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
O thou enwrapped! 1 worship (God) for a few hours at night. 2 (Worship Him) for more or less than half of the night 3 Or increase thereto. And intone the Qur'an with measured intonations. 4 For We are about to send down to you a message of considerable gravity. 5 Indeed getting up in the night is tougher, and the words flow with strength. 6 During the day, you are preoccupied with many activities. 7 And remember the Name of thy Lord, and devote thyself unto Him very devoutly. 8 (He Alone is) the Lord of the east and the west, La ilaha illa Huwa (none has the right to be worshipped but He). So take Him Alone as Wakil (Disposer of your affairs). 9 Bear patiently with what they say, and ignore them politely. 10 And leave Me with [the matter of] the deniers, those of ease [in life], and allow them respite a little. 11 With Us are Fetters (to bind them), and a Fire (to burn them), 12 And food that will stick in the throat, and painful torment 13 On the Day when the earth and the mountains will be in violent shake, and the mountains will be a heap of sand poured out and flowing down. 14 Verily, We have sent to you (O men) a Messenger (Muhammad SAW) to be a witness over you, as We did send a Messenger [Musa (Moses)] to Fir'aun (Pharaoh). 15 But Pharaoh rebelled against the messenger, whereupon We seized him with no gentle grip. 16 How, then, will you guard yourselves, if you disbelieve, on the day which shall make children grey-headed? 17 The very heaven being then rent asunder. His promise is to be fulfilled. 18 Verily this is an Admonition: therefore, whoso will, let him take a (straight) path to his Lord! 19
