He Frowned ('Abasa)
42 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Stars (Al-Najm) before Destiny (Al-Qadr)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ HE FROWNED AND turned away, 1 Because there came to him the blind man (i.e. 'Abdullah bin Umm-Maktum, who came to the Prophet (Peace be upon him) while he was preaching to one or some of the Quraish chiefs). 2 And what would make you know that he would purify himself, 3 Or that he may accept advice, so the advice may benefit him. 4 As to one who regards Himself as self-sufficient, 5 Unto him thou attendest. 6 And no blame is on you if he would not purify himself 7 But as for him who cometh unto thee with earnest purpose 8 And hath fear, 9 Of him wast thou unmindful. 10 No! Indeed, these verses are a reminder; 11 Therefore let whoso will, keep it in remembrance. 12 On honourable pages. 13 lofty and pure, 14 [borne] by the hands of messengers 15 Honourable and Pious and Just. 16 Accursed be man! How stubbornly he denies the Truth. 17 From what thing doth He create him? 18 From a drop of liquid; He created him and then set several measures for him. 19 and made the path of guidance easy for him to follow. 20 and in the end He causes him to die and brings him to the grave; 21 Then when He wills, He will resurrect him. 22 By no means he performed not that which He had commanded him. 23 So man must look at his food. 24 how We pour down rain in abundance, 25 and let the earth to break open 26 We make the grain grow out of it, 27 together with grapes and vegetables, 28 olives, dates, 29 thickly planted gardens, 30 And fruit and grass - 31 an enjoyment for you and your flocks. 32 When the trumpet sounds, 33 The day on which a man shall fly from his brother, 34 his mother and his father, 35 And his wife and his children, 36 For every one of them on that Day shall be business enough to occupy 37 Some faces will shine, 38 laughing, rejoicing at glad tidings. 39 And (many) faces on that day, on them shall be dust, 40 and covered by darkness. 41 They will be the unbelievers, transgressors. 42
Allah the Almighty always says the truth.
