And (remember) when your Lord said to Moosa, “Go to the unjust people.” 10 the people of Pharaoh: do they have no fear?" 11 He said: O my Lord! surely I fear that they will reject me; 12 “I feel hesitant, and my tongue does not speak fast, therefore make Haroon also a Noble Messenger.” 13 besides, they accuse me of a crime, and I fear that they may put me to death." 14 He said: by no means. So go ye twain with Our signs; verily We shall be with you listening. 15 Then come to Firon and say: Surely we are the apostles of the Lord of the worlds: 16 so send forth with us the Children of Israel." 17 [Pharaoh] said, "Did we not raise you among us as a child, and you remained among us for years of your life? 18 Yet you committed the deed you did, surely you are one of the ingrates." 19 He said: I did it then when I was mistaken. 20 and I fled from you because I feared you. But [since] then my Sustainer has endowed me with the ability to judge [between right and wrong,] and has made me one of [His] message-bearers. 21 And [as for] that favour of which thou so tauntingly remindest me - [was it not] due to thy having enslaved the children of Israel?" 22 Pharaoh said, 'And what is the Lord of all Being?' 23 (Moses) said: "The Lord and Cherisher of the heavens and the earth, and all between,- if ye want to be quite sure." 24 Said he to those about him, 'Do you not hear?' 25 He said, 'Your Lord and the Lord of your fathers, the ancients' 26 Pharaoh said to the audience: "This Messenger of yours who has been sent to you is simply mad." 27 He said, 'The Lord of the East and West, and what between them is, if you have understanding,' 28 (Pharaoh) said: "If thou dost put forward any god other than me, I will certainly put thee in prison!" 29 Said Moosa, “Even if I bring to you something clear?” 30 [Pharaoh] answered: "Produce it, then, if thou art a man of truth!" 31 So (Moses) cast his staff, and lo, it turned into a living serpent. 32 And he drew out his hand, and it appeared [shining] white to the beholders. 33
