And recite to them the tiding of Abraham 69 Behold, he said to his father and his people: "What worship ye?" 70 They answered: "There are some idols that we worship and are devoted to them with constancy." 71 He asked: "Do they hear you when you call them 72 or benefit you or do you harm?" 73 They said, "But we found our fathers doing thus." 74 He said: "Do you observe that which you have been worshipping, 75 you and your forefathers -- 76 “They are all my enemies, except the Lord Of The Creation.” 77 Who created me and Who guides me; 78 and Himself gives me to eat and drink, 79 He who cures me when I am ill; 80 "Who will cause me to die, and then to life (again); 81 and whom I am eager shall forgive me my sins on the Day of Recompense' 82 My Lord! bestow on me wisdom and join me with the righteous. 83 Make my words come true in the future. 84 And make me of the heirs of the garden of bliss 85 Forgive me and my father: He was surely among those who went astray. 86 and disgrace me not on the Day when people will be raised to life, 87 The day when wealth and sons avail not (any man) 88 except him who comes before Allah with a pure heart; 89 And Paradise will be brought near to the Muttaqun (pious - see V. 2:2). 90 and Hell shall be revealed to the misguided, 91 "And it shall be said to them: 'Where are the (gods) ye worshipped- 92 besides God? Can they help you or even help themselves?" 93 The idol worshippers, the idols, the rebellious ones, 94 Together with the hordes of Iblis. 95 There they will quarrel with one another and the erring ones will say (to their deities): 96 they will say, "By God, we were in clear error 97 When we equalled you with the Lord of the worlds. 98 It was naught but the sinners that led us astray; 99 Now we have no intercessors, 100 nor a loving friend. 101 Then if we only had a return [to the world] and could be of the believers... " 102 Lo! herein is indeed a portent, yet most of them are not believers! 103 And indeed your Lord – only He is the Almighty, the Most Merciful. 104
