The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ OF WHAT ARE they asking one another? 1 About the Great News 2 on which they [so utterly] disagree. 3 By no means! anon they shall know. 4 Again surely yes, they will soon come to know! 5 Did We not make the earth a bed? 6 and the mountains as pegs? 7 And it is We who created you in pairs. 8 and We appointed your sleep for a rest; 9 and made the night a covering, 10 and made the day for earning a livelihood. 11 And built seven strong roofs above you. 12 And made [therein] a burning lamp 13 and sent down abundant water from the clouds 14 that We may bring forth thereby grain and plants, 15 And gardens of thick growth. 16 Verily, the Day of Decision is a fixed time, 17 The day when the Trumpet will be blown – you will therefore come forth in multitudes. 18 and when the skies are opened and become [as wide-flung] gates; 19 And the mountains are removed and will be [but] a mirage. 20 Lo! hell lurketh in ambush, 21 a resort for the rebellious; 22 They will tarry therein for ages. 23 Nothing cool shall they taste therein, nor any drink, 24 Save boiling water and a paralysing cold: 25 A fitting recompense (for them). 26 Surely they feared not the account, 27 And denied Our verses with [emphatic] denial. 28 Everything have We recorded in a Book. 29 Taste therefore. We shall not increase you in aught but torment. 30
