Said he to the Council about him, 'Surely this man is a cunning sorcerer 34 Who wants to drive you out of your land by his sorcery. Now what do you advise?" 35 They said, “Stop him and his brother, and send gatherers to the cities.” 36 who shall bring to you every skilful sorcerer." 37 So the sorcerers were got together for the appointment of a day well-known, 38 and the people were told, "Will you also gather together, 39 The people said, “Perhaps we may follow the magicians if they are victorious.” 40 And when the wizards came they said unto Pharaoh: Will there surely be a reward for us if we are the winners? 41 He said: Yes, and surely you will then be of those who are made near. 42 (Moses) asked the magicians, "Cast down what you want to". 43 So they cast their ropes and rods, and said: "By the glory of Pharaoh, we shall be victorious." 44 Then Moses threw his rod, when, behold, it straightway swallows up all the falsehoods which they fake! 45 Then did the sorcerers fall down, prostrate in adoration, 46 They said, “We have accepted faith in the Lord Of The Creation.” 47 "The Lord of Moses and Aaron." 48 Said he: You believe in him before I give you permission; most surely he is the chief of you who taught you the magic, so you shall know: certainly I will cut off your hands and your feet on opposite sides, and certainly I will crucify you all. 49 They said, "No harm. Indeed, to our Lord we will return. 50 Indeed, we aspire that our Lord will forgive us our sins because we were the first of the believers." 51
