The people of Lut belied the sent ones. 160 Recall, when their brother Lot said to them: "Have you no fear? 161 Surely I am a faithful apostle to you; 162 so fear God and obey me. 163 I ask of you no wage for this; my wage falls only upon the Lord of all Being. 164 What! Of all creatures do ye come unto the males, 165 leaving aside those whom Allah has created for you as your mates. Nay, you are a people that has transgressed all limits." 166 They said: "If thou desist not, O Lut! thou wilt assuredly be cast out!" 167 He said: Surely I am of those who utterly abhor your doing; 168 My Lord! deliver me and my household from that which they work. 169 So We saved him and his whole family 170 Except one old woman, who stayed behind. 171 We destroyed the others 172 and rained down upon them a rain [of destruction]: and dire is such rain upon all who let themselves be warned [to no avail]! 173 In this [story,] behold, there is a message [unto men,] even though most of them will not believe [in it]. 174 And indeed your Lord only He is the Almighty, the Most Merciful. 175

قراءة القرآن مترجماً إلى الإنجليزية أو أية لغة أخرى أشبه بقراءة كتب التفسير من قراءة ترجمات حرفية.
Reading the Quran translated into English, or any other language, is more like reading books of interpretation than reading literal translations.
