Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat)
60 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Dunes (Al-Ahqaaf) before Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the winds which scatter dust, 1 Then those clouds bearing the load (of minute things in space). 2 And those that flow with ease and gentleness; 3 Then by oath of those which distribute by the command. 4 What you are threatened with is most surely true, 5 And the judgment must most surely come about. 6 By the heaven with its numerous forms: 7 surely you are deeply at variance [as to what to believe] -- 8 Through which are deluded (away from the Truth) such as would be deluded. 9 May the conjecturers perish, 10 Those who are in heedlessness neglectful. 11 They ask, “When will be the Day of Judgement?” 12 On that Day they shall be tried at the Fire, 13 'Taste your trial. This is what you have sought to hasten' 14 The righteous shall live among gardens and fountains, 15 receiving what their Lord will give them because before this they were gooddoers. 16 They used to sleep but little of the night, 17 And in the hours before dawn they would ask forgiveness, 18 And from their properties was [given] the right of the [needy] petitioner and the deprived. 19 For those with sure belief there are signs in the earth, 20 And also in your own selves. Behold ye not? 21 And in the heaven is your provision and that which ye are promised. 22 And by the Lord of the heavens and the earth, it is the truth, even as (it is true) that ye speak. 23
