The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ When the forthcoming event does occur. 1 (and none denies its descending) 2 It will abase some and exalt others. 3 When the earth is shaken with a shock 4 And the mountains will be crushed, blown to bits. 5 And become dust dispersing. 6 On that day, you (mankind) will be divided into three groups: 7 So those on the Right Hand (i.e. those who will be given their Records in their right hands), Who will be those on the Right Hand? (As a respect for them, because they will enter Paradise). 8 And those on the Left Hand (i.e. those who will be given their Record in their left hands), Who will be those on the Left Hand? (As a disgrace for them, because they will enter Hell). 9 And the foremost are the foremost, 10 Those are they who will be brought nigh 11 In the gardens of bliss. 12 A throng of the ancients, 13 And a few of those (foremost) will be from the later time (generations). 14 (They will be) on Thrones encrusted (with gold and precious stones), 15 reclining upon them, facing one another [in love]. 16 Round about them shall go youths never altering in age, 17 Carrying bowls and pitchers – and cups filled with wine flowing before them. 18 which will not cause them any intoxication or illness. 19 they will also go about them with the fruits of which they may choose, 20 Bird meats that they relish, 21 And companions with big beautiful eyes 22 like pearls preserved in their shells, 23 A Reward for the deeds of their past (life). 24 No Laghw (dirty, false, evil vain talk) will they hear therein, nor any sinful speech (like backbiting, etc.). 25 Only the saying, "Peace! Peace". 26 And the companions of the right hand; how happy are the companions of the right hand! 27 [They will be] among lote trees with thorns removed 28 and banana trees, 29 and extended shade, 30 and waters gushing, 31 and abundant fruit, 32 Neither limited [to season] nor forbidden, 33 and upraised couches. 34 Surely We have made them to grow into a (new) growth, 35 We have made them virgins, 36 Loving (their husbands only), equal in age. 37 For those of the right hand. 38
