The Comet (Al-Taareq)

17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)

In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace

By the Sky and the Night-Visitant (therein);- 1 Do you know what al-tariq is? 2 It is the star shining brightly. 3 There is not a soul but over it is a keeper. 4 Let man reflect on what he was created from. 5 He is created from a water dripping, 6 which comes out of the loins and ribs. 7 Indeed Allah is Able to return him. 8 The Day when secrets will be put on trial, 9 Then will he have no might nor any helper. 10 By the heaven with its recurring cycle of rain, 11 And the earth splitting (with plants); 12 this is indeed a Decisive Word, 13 And it is not a frivolity. 14 Verily they are plotting a plot. 15 and I too am devising a guile. 16 Let, then, the deniers of the truth have their will: let them have their will for a little while. 17

True are the words of God the Almighty.
