The Prophets (Al-Anbyaa')
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ There hath approached unto mankind their reckoning, while they in neglect are turning away. 1 No mention comes to them anew from their Lord except that they listen to it while they are at play 2 Their hearts toying as with trifles. The wrong-doers conceal their private counsels, (saying), "Is this (one) more than a man like yourselves? Will ye go to witchcraft with your eyes open?" 3 Say, "My Lord knows every word spoken in the heavens and on the earth. He is All Hearing, All Knowing." 4 But they say, "[The revelation is but] a mixture of false dreams; rather, he has invented it; rather, he is a poet. So let him bring us a sign just as the previous [messengers] were sent [with miracles]." 5 Not a city before them which We destroyed believed; will they then believe? 6 The messengers that We had sent before you were only men to whom We had given revelation. Ask the People of the Book if you do not know. 7 and neither did We endow them with bodies that could dispense with food nor were they immortal. 8 We then fulfilled the promise to them, therefore rescued them and whomever We willed, and destroyed the transgressors. 9 We have bestowed upon you a Book that mentions you. Do you not understand? 10
