The dwellers of Al-Aiyka [near Madyan (Midian)] belied the Messengers. 176 Shu'aib said to them: 'Will you not be cautious? 177 Lo! I am a faithful messenger unto you, 178 "So fear Allah, keep your duty to Him, and obey me. 179 I ask of you no recompense for this; my reward is only with the Lord of the Universe. 180 ۞ "[Always] give full measure, and be not among those who [unjustly] cause loss [to others]; 181 “And weigh with a proper balance.” 182 And do not wrong men of their things, and do not act corruptly in the earth, making mischief. 183 Fear Him who created you and those who have gone before you." 184 They said: "Thou art only one of those bewitched! 185 You are but a human like ourselves, we think that you are one of the liars. 186 Cause, then, fragments of the sky to fall down upon us, if thou art a man of truth!" 187 Answered [Shu'ayb]: "My Sustainer knows fully well what you are doing." 188 Then they branded him a liar, whereupon the chastisement of the Day of Canopy overtook them. It was the chastisement of a very awesome day. 189 Indeed in that is a sign, but most of them were not to be believers. 190 Verily Your Lord is Immensely Mighty, Most Compassionate. 191
