The Heifer (Al-Baqarah)
286 verses, revealed in Medina after The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen) before The Spoils of War (Al-Anfaal)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
Alif. Lam. Mim. 1 This is the Book about which there is no doubt, a guidance for those conscious of Allah - 2 Who believe in [the existence of] that which is beyond the reach of human perception, and are constant in prayer, and spend on others out of what We provide for them as sustenance; 3 who believe in the Book We have sent down to you (i.e. the Qur'an) and in the Books sent down before you, and firmly believe in the Hereafter. 4 those are upon guidance from their Lord, those are the ones who prosper. 5 As for those whose fate is disbelief, whether you warn them or do not warn them it is all one for them; they will not believe. (Because their hearts are sealed see next verse). 6 Allah hath set a seal upon their hearts and upon their hearing, and over their sights is a covering; and unto them shall be a torment mighty. 7
