And assuredly We have created human being from ringing clay of loam moulded. 26 while We had brought the jinn into being before out of blazing fire. 27 And lo! Thy Sustainer said unto the angels: "Behold, I am about to create mortal man out of sounding clay, out of dark slime transmuted; 28 Then when I have formed him and breathed into him of My Spirit fall down unto him prostrate. 29 All the angels prostrated themselves, 30 But Iblis (did it not); he refused to be with those who made obeisance. 31 (Allah) said: "O Iblis! what is your reason for not being among those who prostrated themselves?" 32 He answered, “It does not befit me to prostrate myself to a human whom You have created from sounding clay made out of black smelly mud.” 33 Allah said: then get thee forth therefrom; verily thou art one damned. 34 "And verily, the curse shall be upon you till the Day of Recompense (i.e. the Day of Resurrection)." 35 Iblis prayed, "Lord, grant me respite until the Day of Judgment". 36 Said He, 'Thou art among the ones that are respited 37 Till the Day of appointed time. 38 [Whereupon Iblis] said: "O my Sustainer! Since Thou hast thwarted me, I shall indeed make [all that is evil] on earth seem goodly to them, and shall most certainly beguile them - into grievous error 39 “Except those among them who are Your chosen bondmen.” 40 He said: This is a right way with Me: 41 and you have no authority over My servants except the erring ones who follow you. 42 Gehenna (Hell) will be the promise for all of them. 43 It has seven gates and each gate is assigned for a certain group of people. 44
