۞ (And it is said unto the angels): Assemble those who did wrong, together with their wives and what they used to worship 22 instead of God, and lead them all onto the way to the blazing fire, 23 Stop them. They must be questioned." 24 [They will be asked], "What is [wrong] with you? Why do you not help each other?" 25 Nay, but this day they make full submission. 26 And they will advance toward each other mutually questioning. 27 They will say: "It was ye who used to come to us from the right hand (of power and authority)!" 28 They will say, "No! It was you who would not believe -- 29 We had no power over you, but ye were wayward folk. 30 and so we became deserving of the Word of our Lord that we shall be made to suffer chastisement. 31 For we had led you astray. In fact we ourselves were astray." 32 On that Day, they will all share the chastisement. 33 This is how We deal with the criminals. 34 For when it was said to them: 'There is no god except Allah' they were always proud 35 and replied, "Shall we then give up our deities at the bidding of a mad poet?" 36 Nay, but he [whom you call a mad poet] has brought the truth; and he confirms the truth of [what the earlier of God's] message-bearers [have taught]. 37 Most surely you will taste the painful punishment. 38 and be rewarded only according to your deeds." 39 But the sincere (and devoted) Servants of Allah,- 40 will have their determined sustenance 41 fruits of various kinds; and they shall be honoured, 42 In Gardens of Felicity, 43 (Sitting) on couches, face to face, 44 Round will be passed to them a Cup from a clear-flowing fountain, 45 White and delicious to the drinkers; 46 Wherein there is no headache nor are they made mad thereby. 47 And with them will be mates of modest gaze, most beautiful of eye, 48 As if they were (delicate) eggs closely guarded. 49 They advance one upon another, asking each other questions. 50 One of them will start the talk and say: "I had an intimate companion (on the earth), 51 who was wont to ask [me,] 'Why - art thou really one of those who believe it to be true 52 What! when we are dead and have become dust and bones, shall we then be certainly brought to judgment? 53 He said: 'Will you look down?' 54 Then he will look and see him in the midst of the Fire. 55 He will say to him: -- By Allah, you almost ruined me. 56 If it had not been for the blessing of my Lord, I would also have been taken to Hell." 57 What, do we then not die 58 [again,] beyond our previous death, and that we shall never [again] be made to suffer? 59 Lo! this is the supreme triumph. 60 and for the like of this let the workers work. 61 Is that better by way of hospitality or the Zaqqum tree, 62 Verily, We have caused it to be a trial for evildoers: 63 It is a tree that grows at the bottom of Hell. 64 its spathes are as the heads of Satans, 65 on it they shall feed, and with it they shall fill their bellies. 66 Then they will have on top of it a mixture of boiling water. 67 Then surely their return is towards hell. 68 They found their father going astray 69 Yet they hasten to follow in their footsteps. 70 Thus, indeed, most of the people of old went astray before them, 71 But We sent aforetime, among them, (messengers) to admonish them;- 72 See how those who were warned met their end! 73 Except the sincere (and devoted) Servants of Allah. 74
