The Prophets (Al-Anbyaa')
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ Nigh unto men has drawn their reckoning, while they in heedlessness are yet turning away; 1 Comes not unto them an admonition (a chapter of the Quran) from their Lord as a recent revelation but they listen to it while they play, 2 and their hearts are preoccupied with trivial matters. The unjust ones whisper to each other and say, "Is he (Muhammad) more than a mere mortal like you? How can you follow that which you know is only a magic?" 3 He said: "My Lord knows whatever is spoken in the heavens and the earth. He hears all and knows everything." 4 Aye! they say: a medley of dreams; aye! he hath fabricated it; aye! he is a poet; so let him bring us a sign even as the ancients were sent with. 5 Not one city that We destroyed before them believed; what then, will they not believe? 6 The messengers We sent before you were but men whom We had sent revelations. Ask the People of the Book if you do not know this -- 7 Nor did We make them bodies that ate no food, nor were they immortal. 8 In the end We fulfilled to them Our Promise, and We saved them and those whom We pleased, but We destroyed those who transgressed beyond bounds. 9 Certainly We have revealed to you a Book in which is your good remembrance; what! do you not then understand? 10
