۞ And indeed We bestowed Ibrahim with guidance from the beginning, and We were Aware of him. 51 Recall, when he said to his father and his people: "What are these images to which you are devoutly clinging?" 52 They said:"We found our fathers worshipping them." 53 He said, “Indeed you all – you and your forefathers – were in open error.” 54 They said, “Have you brought the Truth to us, or are you just making fun?” 55 He said: Nay, but your Lord is the Lord of the heavens and the earth, Who created them; and I am of those who testify unto that. 56 "And by Allah, I have a plan for your idols - after ye go away and turn your backs".. 57 Then he reduced them to fragments, all save the chief of them, that haply they might have recourse to it. 58 They said: who hath wrought this to our gods? verily he is of the wrong-doers. 59 They said: We heard a youth speak of them, who is called Ibrahim. 60 They said: bring him then before the eyes of the people, haply they may bear witness. 61 They said, 'So, art thou the man who did this unto our gods, Abraham?' 62 He answered: "Rather it was this supreme one who has done it. So ask them, if they can speak." 63 Then they turned to themselves and said: Surely you yourselves are the unjust; 64 Then they reversed themselves, [saying], "You have already known that these do not speak!" 65 [Ibrahim (Abraham)] said: "Do you then worship besides Allah, things that can neither profit you, nor harm you? 66 “Disgrace be upon you and all the idols whom you worship instead of Allah; so do you not have sense?” 67 They said: burn him, and succour your gods, if ye will be doing. 68 'O Fire' We said, 'be coolness and safety for Abraham' 69 And they intended to do him an evil, but We made them the worst losers. 70 and We delivered him, and Lot, unto the land that We had blessed for all beings. 71 And We bestowed on him Isaac and, as an additional gift, (a grandson), Jacob, and We made righteous men of every one (of them). 72 And We made them into leaders to guide people in accordance with Our command, and We inspired them to good works, and to establish Prayers and to give Zakah. They worshipped Us alone. 73 AND UNTO Lot, too, We vouchsafed sound judgment and knowledge [of right and wrong,] and saved him from that community which was given to deeds of abomination. [We destroyed those people - for,] verily, they were people lost in evil, depraved 74 And We brought him in unto Our mercy. Lo! he was of the righteous. 75
