Smoke (Al-Dukhaan)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
Ha Mim! 1 By the Book that makes things clear, 2 surely We sent it down on a blessed night, We have always sent warnings, 3 During it are distributed all the works of wisdom. 4 The command that We have been sending 5 (As) a Mercy from your Lord. Verily! He is the All-Hearer, the All-Knower. 6 Lord of the heavens and earth, and all that between them is if you have faith. 7 There is no god except He. He revives and causes to die. (He is) your Lord and the Lord of your fathers, the ancients. 8 Yet they are lost in doubt and play. 9 Then wait you for the Day when the sky will bring forth a visible smoke. 10 enveloping all mankind, [and causing the sinners to exclaim:] "Grievous is this suffering! 11 (They will say): "Our Lord! Remove the torment from us, really we shall become believers!" 12 [But] how shall this remembrance avail them [at the Last Hour,] seeing that an apostle had previously come unto them, clearly expounding the truth, 13 Then they had turned away from him (Messenger Muhammad SAW) and said: "One (Muhammad SAW) taught (by a human being), a madman!" 14 We shall remove the torment for a while but you will revert to your old ways. 15 Upon the day when We shall assault most mightily, then We shall take Our vengeance. 16 ۞ We tried Pharaoh's nation before them. A noble Messenger came to them, 17 Saying: Deliver to me the servants of Allah, surely I am a faithful apostle to you, 18 "And be not arrogant as against Allah: for I come to you with authority manifest. 19 I have taken refuge in my Lord and your Lord against your stoning me to death. 20 If you do not want to believe, leave me alone". 21 (But they were aggressive:) then he cried to his Lord: "These are indeed a people given to sin." 22 [Allah said], "Then set out with My servants by night. Indeed, you are to be pursued. 23 And leave the sea in stillness. Indeed, they are an army to be drowned." 24 How many gardens and fountains did they leave behind, 25 corn-fields, gracious mansions, 26 And wealth (and conveniences of life), wherein they had taken such delight! 27 Even so (it was), and We made it an inheritance for other folk; 28 And the heaven and earth wept not for them, nor were they reprieved. 29
