The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ When the Event (the resurrection) comes 1 There is about its happening no lie. 2 Abasing exalting. 3 When the earth will be shaken with a terrible shake. 4 And the mountains shall be crumbled to atoms, 5 And become dust dispersing. 6 And you (all) will be in three kinds (i.e. separate groups). 7 Then the companions of the right - what are the companions of the right? 8 Then those of the left hand -- how (unhappy) will be those of the left hand! 9 And the forerunners, the forerunners - 10 those are they brought nigh the Throne, 11 In the Gardens of delight (Paradise). 12 A [large] company of the former peoples 13 And a few of those of later time. 14 They (will be seated) on gold-encrusted couches, 15 reclining on them facing each other; 16 There will circulate among them young boys made eternal 17 With vessels, pitchers and a cup [of wine] from a flowing spring - 18 (no brows throbbing, no intoxication) 19 And fruit; that they may choose. 20 and the flesh of birds, as they desire. 21 And gorgeous eyed fair maidens. 22 The like of the hidden pearls: 23 A reward for what they used to do. 24 No empty talk will they hear there, nor any call to sin, 25 Except the word peace, peace. 26 As for the People on the Right, how fortunate shall be the people on the Right! 27 (will be) among thornless Lote trees. 28 and flower-clad acacias, 29 In shade long-extended, 30 and flowing water 31 and fruit abounding, 32 Neither limited [to season] nor forbidden, 33 And carpets raised. 34 and their spouses We shall have brought them into being afresh, 35 And made them virgin - pure (and undefiled), - 36 Loving, equals in age, 37 For the companions of the right [who are] 38
