Nay, by the moon, 32 And by oath of the night when it turns back. 33 And by oath of the morning, when it spreads light. 34 surely (Hell) is one of the greatest Signs, 35 A warning to mortals, 36 To him among you who wishes to go forward or remain behind. 37 Every soul is pledged to what it does, 38 save the Companions of the Right; 39 In Gardens they will question 40 About the criminals, 41 "What led you into Hell Fire?" 42 They will say: "We were not of those who prayed; 43 And we have not been feeding the poor. 44 We used to wade (in vain dispute) with (all) waders, 45 And rejected the Day of Judgement as a lie 46 till the certainty (death) overtook us' 47 Then the intercession of the intercessors shall not profit them. 48 If such will be the Day of Judgment, what is the matter with them? Why do they run away from guidance, 49 as though they were terrified asses 50 fleeing before a lion? 51 No indeed; each one of them desires that open letters be sent to each of them. 52 By no means! But they fear not the Hereafter, 53 There is no doubt that the Quran is a guide. 54 So whoever pleases may mind it. 55 And they will not mind unless Allah please. He is worthy to be feared and worthy to forgive. 56
