The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ WHEN THAT which must come to pass [at last] comes to pass, 1 There is about its happening no lie. 2 It will bring down [some] and raise up [others]. 3 When the earth is violently shaken 4 and the mountains fragmented 5 and become a dust, scattered, 6 you shall be divided into three parties, 7 Then (there will be) the Companions of the Right Hand;- What will be the Companions of the Right Hand? 8 And those on the left – how (wretched) are those on the left! 9 and the Outstrippers: the Outstrippers 10 These will be those nearest to Allah. 11 In gardens of tranquility; 12 a large group of the early believers, 13 and a lesser number from the later generations. 14 upon close-wrought couches 15 reclining on them, arrayed face to face; 16 Immortal youths will serve them 17 with goblets, jugs and cups of crystal clear wine 18 Unheady, uninebriating; 19 and such fruits as they shall choose, 20 Bird meats that they relish, 21 And companions with big beautiful eyes 22 like pearls preserved in their shells, 23 as reward for their deeds. 24 They will not hear therein any vain or sinful talk, 25 Nought but the saying: peace! peace! 26 The Companions of the Right (O Companions of the Right!) 27 (They will be) among Lote-trees without thorns, 28 And [banana] trees layered [with fruit] 29 In shade long-extended, 30 near to flowing water 31 and abundant fruits, 32 unfailing, unforbidden, 33 And raised couches. 34 Indeed, We have produced the women of Paradise in a [new] creation 35 We have made them virgins, 36 Loving, equals in age, 37 for the Companions of the Right 38
