The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ When the Event (the resurrection) comes 1 – and then there will be no one to deny its occurrence – 2 Degrading (some) and exalting (others); 3 When the earth shall be shaken to its depths, 4 and the mountains fragmented 5 So they will become like fine dust, scattered in a shaft of light. 6 [on that Day] you shall be divided into three groups. 7 So those on the Right Hand (i.e. those who will be given their Records in their right hands), Who will be those on the Right Hand? (As a respect for them, because they will enter Paradise). 8 And the Companions of the Left Hand,- what will be the Companions of the Left Hand? 9 Then the foremost, how pre-excellent, 10 These will be those nearest to Allah. 11 In Gardens of Delight. 12 a good many of those of olden times, 13 and a lesser number from the later generations. 14 (They will be) on thrones woven with gold and precious stones, 15 Reclining on them, facing one another. 16 There wait on them immortal youths 17 with goblets, jugs and cups of crystal clear wine 18 a drink by which their minds will not be clouded nor will it cause drunkenness; 19 and with fruit of any kind that they may choose, 20 Bird meats that they relish, 21 And (there are) fair ones with wide, lovely eyes, 22 The like of the hidden pearls: 23 As reward for what they used to do. 24 They will hear no nonsense there or talk of sin, 25 Only a saying: "Peace, peace." 26 As for those of the right hand -- how (happy) those of the right hand -- 27 mid thornless lote-trees 28 and serried acacias, 29 And in everlasting shade. 30 and flowing water, 31 and abundant fruit, 32 Neither intercepted nor forbidden, 33 And [upon] beds raised high. 34 Verily We! We have created those maidens by a creation. 35 and We made them spotless virgins, 36 Loving, equals in age, 37 For the fellows on the right hand. 38
