The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ When the sky has split [open] 1 And it hearkeneth to its Lord, and is duteous. 2 And when the earth is stretched forth, 3 and casts out all that is within it and becomes empty; 4 and gives ear to its Lord, and is fitly disposed! 5 O human, you are working hard towards your Lord and you will meet Him. 6 Then as for he who is given his record in his right hand, 7 He truly will receive an easy reckoning 8 And return to his people in happiness. 9 But whoso is given his account behind his back, 10 he shall call for destruction 11 And shall enter a blazing Fire, and made to taste its burning. 12 He once lived among his family joyfully; 13 he surely thought he would never revert. 14 But yes! Indeed, his Lord was ever of him, Seeing. 15 I swear by the afterglow of sunset, 16 And [by] the night and what it envelops 17 and the moon when it is at the full, 18 that you shall surely ride from stage to stage. 19 But what is the matter with them that they do not believe, 20 And when the Quran is recited to them they do not make obeisance? ۩ 21 But those who have disbelieved deny, 22 And Allah knows best what they hide, 23 Therefore give them the glad tidings of a painful punishment. 24 Except those who believed and did good deeds – for them is a reward that will never end. 25
