Dispatched (Al-Mursalaat)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
By the winds sent forth in swift succession, 1 And the winds that blow violently 2 By those which cause earth's vegetation to revive; 3 then winnow them thoroughly, 4 And those that bring down the Reminder 5 To clear or to warn. 6 Verily that which ye are promised is about to befall. 7 Then the stars will lose their light. 8 and when the sky is rent asunder, 9 And when the mountains are carried away by wind. 10 and the appointed time to bring the Messengers together arrives, (then shall the promised event come to pass). 11 If one asks, "To which day have such calamitous events been postponed?" 12 For the Day of Sorting out. 13 And what will make you comprehend what the day of decision is? 14 Woe that day unto those who cry it lies! 15 Did We not destroy the former generations? 16 So shall We make later (generations) follow them. 17 As such shall We deal with the sinners. 18 Woe on that day unto the beliers! 19 Did We not create you out of a humble fluid 20 Which We laid up in a safe abode 21 For a known term? 22 Then We facilitated (your birth). How well do We calculate! 23 Woe that day unto those who cry it lies! 24 Have We not made the earth a receptacle 25 The living and the dead, 26 Have We not placed high mountains upon it and given you fresh water to drink? 27 Alas the woe that day for those who deny! 28 [They will be told], "Proceed to that which you used to deny. 29 Proceed to a shadow [of smoke] having three columns 30 Neither having the coolness of the shade nor availing against the flame. 31 which - behold! - will throw up sparks like [burning] logs, 32 like giant fiery ropes! 33 Woe that day unto those who cry it lies! 34 This is a Day they will not speak, 35 And they will not be permitted to put forth any excuse. 36 Woe that Day to the deniers (of the Day of Resurrection)! 37 That will be the Day of Reckoning. Gathered will be (you) and the earlier (generations). 38 If now you have any strategy, use it against Me. 39 Ah woe, that Day, to the Rejecters of Truth! 40
