Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
Has the story reached thee of the overwhelming (Event)? 1 Faces on that day humbled, 2 Labouring (hard), weary,- 3 Scorched by burning fire, 4 their drink shall be from a boiling spring. 5 they shall have no food but thorns, 6 Which doth not nourish nor release from hunger. 7 In that day other faces will be calm, 8 well pleased with their striving, 9 They will live in an exalted garden 10 hearing there no babble; 11 Therein will be a bubbling spring: 12 In which are high thrones. 13 Goblets placed (ready), 14 Cushions arranged, 15 And carpets spread around. 16 Have they not looked at how the camel is created, 17 And the heaven, how it is reared aloft, 18 and how the mountains were firmly fixed? 19 And the earth: how it was spread out? 20 Therefore do thou give admonition, for thou art one to admonish. 21 You are not charged to oversee them. 22 Save the one who turns away and disbelieves 23 Allah will punish him with direst punishment. 24 Indeed, to Us is their return. 25 then upon Us shall rest their reckoning. 26
