Animals (Al-An 'aam)

In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Praise be Allah, Who created the heavens and the earth, and made the darkness and the light. Yet those who reject Faith hold (others) as equal, with their Guardian-Lord. 1 He it is created you from clay, and then decreed a stated term (for you). And there is in His presence another determined term; yet ye doubt within yourselves! 2 He is God in the heavens and the earth; He knows your secrets, and what you publish, and He knows what you are earning. 3 And not a sign cometh unto them of the signs of their Lord but that therefrom they have been backsliders. 4 and thus they gave the lie to the Truth that has now come to them. Soon they will come upon some news concerning what they had mocked at. 5 See they not how many a generation We destroyed before them, whom We had established in the earth more firmly than We have established you, and We shed on them abundant showers from the sky, and made the rivers flow beneath them. Yet we destroyed them for their sins, and created after them another generation. 6 Even if We had sent you a transcript on paper which they could feel with their hands, the unbelievers would have said: "This is nothing but clear sorcery." 7 They say: Why hath not an angel been sent down unto him? If We sent down an angel, then the matter would be judged; no further time would be allowed them (for reflection). 8 And had We made him an angel, We would still have made him a man, and We would have confounded for them that which they are confounding. 9 Messengers (of Allah) have been derided before thee, but that whereat they scoffed surrounded such of them as did deride. 10

How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
