The Thamud tribe denied the Noble Messengers. 141 When their brother Salih (Saleh) said to them: "Will you not fear Allah and obey Him? 142 I have been sent as a trusted messenger to you. 143 So fear God and follow me. 144 "No reward do I ask of you for it (my Message of Islamic Monotheism), my reward is only from the Lord of the 'Alamin (mankind, jinns and all that exists). 145 Will ye be left secure in that which is here before us, 146 amidst gardens and fountains, 147 and fields, and [these] palm-trees with slender spathes? 148 “And you carve out dwellings in the mountains, with skill?” 149 So fear Allah and obey me. 150 Do not follow those who are extravagant, 151 Who spread corruption in the earth, and reform not. 152 They said: "Thou art only one of those bewitched! 153 thou art naught but a mortal, like us; then produce a sign, if thou art one of the truthful.' 154 Salih said: "This is a she-camel. There is a day set for her to drink and there is a day set for you to drink. 155 so do her no harm, or the punishment of an awful day will befall you." 156 But they hamstrung her and so became regretful. 157 and torment struck them. In this there is evidence of the Truth, yet many people do not have any faith. 158 But, verily, thy Sustainer - He alone - is almighty, a dispenser of grace! 159
